About this Class
Are you an aspiring writer who wants to craft personal essays for magazines but doesn’t know where to start? I’ll guide you through the kinds of essays that editors are looking for now. Using excerpts from top writers, we’ll examine:
- creative nonfiction
- essays on hot-button topics
- humorous essays
And if you aim to write a topical piece, I’ll walk you through some of the issues that editors want to explore and audiences want to read about.
Whether you’re just getting started as a writer or are transitioning from another type of writing to personal essays, I’ll give you resources to find your voice and connect you with publications that want to hear your story.
After class, I’ll email you a shortlist of magazines looking for personal essays so that you can start submitting your work right away.
*NOTE: Online instruction via Skype is also available. Contact me.
